While having my precious TV time with my wife on Wednesday night, I got shocked when I saw 2 legendary singer been interviewed in RTM 1. It may not electrified to some of you out there, but It was really something good for the nation. These 2 pop stars ( Jamal & Saleem)with a unique voice and tumultuous past, being brave to appeared in nationally televised forum to reveal on the experience and thought for public's good. “I’ve tried many ‘roads’ like going to the rehabilitation centre and traditional medicine. For some people it’s faith in God,” said Jamal, relating his experience in fighting drug addiction. Being asked on the challenge that he had faced, jamal said,"For me, to get down, its normal, but to get up, its not normal!" (Can see a drop from my wife eyes). Jamal also in the process of launching of his self-published book, Jalan Lain Ke Sana (Another Road To Get There). “By sharing my experience, I hope the dark past will be a reminder to my fans. Families who want to learn about the ins and outs of this (drug addiction) can check out my book as well,” he said.
To Saleem, nothing in this world can compare the effort of his wife in getting him back on track. He also answered a question related to controversial statement by an actor in one of the reality show. In my view, they have done a very good job to share their experience with everybody on the effect of being addicted to drug. Many who kicked the habit became addicts again because family members turned their backs on them, this is what explained by the panelist that night. Family support is very crucial to help them get back on the right track. For Malaysian, it is our job to make sure that ex-addict to give them a second chance, so as to prevent them from returning to their old habits.

Malaysia is not a place to invest your money.
The policies are so loop-sided that you cannot chose the best people to work for you but to employ those malay graduates who are way below "standard".
In the first place, these malays are not of intellect quality but the foreign and local companies are forced to employ them.
So, if a foreign company has a choice, they will not invest in a country like that where competition is solely based on skin color, and "know who" not "know how".
Malaysia now lags behind both China's and India's science and technology sectors, and regional rivals Singapore and Thailand now attract more foreign direct investments.
Why is it so that we lag behind all those countries? Just study who are the planners in the counties education system.
Here we have third class educationists in the form of Umno-malays, most of them are third graders in their school days, planning the education policies. They are actually failures academically and now trying to teach others about education.
Then look around the schools and universities. Just a cursory glance will tell you that the teaching staffs are not of first class materials. Many are byproducts of unemployed graduates who managed to get teaching as their only choice of vocation.
Similarly the universities teaching staffs are third rated too. When you have such lousy teachers, would you expect first class materials?
Whatever Malaysia is advocating, Malaysia is heading to doom! Agriculture, commerce, education, health, politics, social interaction, everything that Malaysia embarks is doomed.
The information and communication technology that Malaysia implementing is as good as doomed since day one when the corrupted and racist Mahathir laid hand on it.

This further decreases the efficiency in the utilization of good human engineering practices in a highly competitive global world!
The only way Malaysia can succeed is to embrace good human engineering practices compassionately, since only good human engineering practices can attain excellent, efficient and effective production in order to compete with other formidable ICT nations.
This means the practices of meritocracy, no NEP and racial discrimination!
With a corrupted and racist government practice corrupt, discriminatory and racial engineering practices, the effective job activities and efficiency in productions are definitely to be lagging.
This means high production costs, inefficient manufacturing processes, poor research and development designs, with expensive and inferior products! Example - Proton!
The government might as well close down Cyberjaya, encourage goat rearing and save costs. At least the loss in capital is not as severe as in ICT ventures and by the year 2020, every people is guaranteed with a roast lamb!
The biggest joke is, the people themselves are to be blamed for supporting the current and always has been and probably forever will be, the BN.
That is keep it up and make them more and more arrogant.
We want to be hubs of everything and master of none. That is why we know for sure Vision 2020 will not be achieved. It is easy to set a vision and really another to achieve it.
Principally as a small nation with limited human resources, not making optimum use of its human resource by sidelining a major more advanced sector of its population through the NEP, will create many many more "Tak Boleh".
With people only interested in sitting beside a money machine, where Malaysia will end with is already a certainty.
Any cure? No, no way. The entire makeup of the Malaysia society from greed, corruption, politics and third world mentality etc, will doom any effort to rectify it. We can't even talk simple things like "understanding each other" let alone major issues like corruption, etc.
Even God has got no solution for Malaysia the way it is going.
If the mindsets of the malays here actually reflect the general people then I am afraid there is no hope. Simply hopeless. Nothing much is going to change to the good.

Sorry folks, I am one of those who don't believe Vision 2020 can be achieved, and not be a long shot.
Umno first consideration is not achieving Vision 2020 as what they are trying to tell us, but their paramount and top priority is to ensure that their ketuanan and NEP policies are intact in whatever goals they conceive.
This is where the stumbling block lies. Never mind if third grade graduates become lecturers or professors, so long their ketuanan and special rights policies are adhered to.
Even in business or industries enterprise, the business people have to satisfy Umno demands that these corporations/industries satisfy the NEP and special rights rules first.
So, is it that difficult to understand Vision 2020 has never been a top priority, but the ketuanan policies are, and these override all else, even if it means that Vision 2020 is not achieved.
'First class mentality' for Malaysians? When most of them are spoon-fed by the government and they behave like the baboons in the UPM cafeteria? Not in my lifetime! And I am still relatively young!
First class mentality starts in school. What chance does the young have when they are exposed to under qualified teachers? And a failed education system?
Whilst in Japan, I witness a scene where a homeless man, in filthy clothes and hair, rummaged through a few rubbish bins, spilling their contents onto the ground. When he finally found what he wanted, he actually put the rubbish back into the bins! I was shocked!
Back here in Malaysia, the educated and privileged don't even bother to look for bins to throw their rubbish in! What kind of mentality is this, compared to the homeless man? It is a sad, sad world we live in, man……….
The NEP will be a huge stumbling block towards Vision 2020. When leaders of business and industry are not chosen on the basis of meritocracy but purely on the basis of being a malay, how la?

Malaysia leaders always lamented that 'we have first class infrastructure but third class mentality'.
What they should actually say is that 'we have first class infrastructure but third class leaders' - That is more like it.

My grandpa came to Malaysia from China on 1931 with only 10 cents Malaysia rinngit that time - he came here with nothing but only a pair of hands willing to work - he got his first job working as a construction builder and earn only a few cents a day.
My grandpa married my grandma in Malaysia and they both work hard together to earn a living and then they have babies, my dad and uncles……….during the war time, my grandpa still worked very hard to earn a living and finally, by enough feeding the family and savings - he managed to set up a small business selling the coconut sugar sweet thing - my dad managed to get into high school in Penang because my grandpa business was doing really good.
And when my grandpa die, he just left a car for my dad and the rest of his wills, he donated to the charity because he said, my dad doesn't deserved his wills because he has done nothing and he going to earn his own money.
And yes - my dad earned his own and support me to overseas university and after 3 generations……….I wonder why those malay people still need special rights and still making food at the corridor. I don't mind if they choose the life, but then they whining other races took their opportunity and blame us for causing them poor and unable to achieve anything.
I wonder why my grandpa and father can earn everything by their own hand and those malays whining we took all their things from their land. We don't steal, we don't rob the people - we just simply earn with our bare hand.

To me, Ketuanan Melayu is the false notion of malay greatness or malay supremacy. Truth is - there is nothing to associate the malay race with greatness.
By any widely accepted standards, it will be obvious to see that the malay race does not quality to be called one of the great races of this world. Truth is that the Chinese and Indians have a culture accomplished much more and far greater than these jokers have.

By contrast, numerous Chinese and Indians have won the Nobel Prize and various other awards. The Chinese and Indian diaspora is widely recognized as two of the three most successful diasporas in history, the other being the Jewish diaspora. All over the world, Chinese and Indians have become successful artists, CEOs, doctors, filmmakers, scientists, writers, etc, etc.
Name one malay who is widely recognized around the world in his or her field. The only malay whose name might be recognized out of this country is Mahathir, and he is part Indian. Is malay culture recognized as a world renowned culture - no.
Malay culture, if cultures were ranked, would be close to the bottom. What is their culture compared to the great Chinese and Indian cultures that are centuries old and really rich. The Chinese and Indians have a 5000 years old history during which China and India have played a very important part in world history.
Nobody knew about malays until the Indian kings of south India first came here. That is why the oldest archeological remains in Malaysia, in Lembah Bujang, are Hindu temples.
The malay sultanate itself was started by a Hindu - Parameswara. And even at the height of its power, the Malacca sultanate was nothing more than a vassal of the Chinese emperor.
Have any malay architect designed anything worthwhile - no. Have any malay author won the Booker Prize or the Pulitzer Prize - no. Have any malay filmmaker won an Oscar - no. Have the malays achieved anything in sports - no.
Chinese and Indians have achieved all this. So there is no real Ketuanan Melayu. It is a fiction concocted by racist stupid politicians to keep the "kampung" malays happy thinking that they have had a glorious past.
They don't. Their history isn't worth mentioning. You would never find a mention of malays or Malaysia or Tanah Melayu in most books of world history while entire chapters are devoted to the history of China and India.
The discriminative constitution and law of Malaysia is just a recognition of this fact. The malay leaders and to every single malay knows that on a level playing field, the malays will never be able to compete with the Chinese and Indians.
University Malaya standard dropped the moment the UK General Medical Council stopped recognising UM medical degree. From medical, the "disease" spread to other faculties over the years.
In fact I am waiting for past UM graduates to write more and more letters to highlight the real problems within the university. Otherwise, the vice chancellor will be in denial syndrome.
When are we going to see such a success story and the like back here? Maybe we have to wait for another 50 years. We are 50 years back compare to Singapore University and how we are going to catch up?
Our country is lack of strong R&D culture in all spectrums of sectors. Be it biz world, industrial, university, etc. Even MSC in the eyes of IT and property expert, it is just another "white elephant" and more on property development showcase rather than ICT.
What can argue is to certain extent valid, but look in holistic view if IT in MSC Cyberjaya is lack R&D, then our IT sector can absorb how many IT graduates? It is not a surplus of IT graduates but the Malaysia IT sector growth is limited, thus limit the employment opportunity.
Never compare with Singapore or western education level as our education fundamental systems are flaws from primary to tertiary level, constraint by current "third world mentality".
During my time, had excellent external examiners - Nobel laureate Yang Zheng Ning was one of them. We had never missed his speech each time he visited UM. I can still vividly recollect his comparison of NUS and UM students.
Singapore students have extremely good memory. They can memorise and reproduce word-by-word text from books into their answers. UM students used their own words to answer questions. What a compliment from a Nobel Prize winner! This day will never return!
These days when I travel overseas, I refrain from telling people where I come from, if I can - you know the reason/reasons.
It is really sad to see all the good things gone forever. All systems in Malaysia are crumbling!
30 - 40 years ago, if you get a place in UM, you don't bother about going overseas. Nowadays, if you get a place in UM, it ranks behind places offered overseas, and even behind some twinning schools like Monash and Nottingham. Most of the ministers send their children to international schools, and then on to foreign universities.
The rot has set in too deep. The situation can only be reversed over a long period of time, starting with the overhaul of our entire educational system, and the establishment of a level playing field for all Malaysians.
If you sit in at any of the lectures, you will find it very boring, lacking, uninspiring in content and interaction.
An extension of our school system no doubt where it is just a one way traffic and the lecturer in front just delivers or reads his notes and the students just copy whatever they can, not questioning anything and the lecturer not giving anymore or encouraging intelligent discussion.
At exams, the lecturers give out very strong hints, even the questions themselves at times, to ensure their students pass.
Listen in on the tutorials and you wonder what they are all talking about, very low in intellectual contents, contributions and efforts. You would wonder what our schools and universities are producing and can't believe that you are actually at a university.
Everyone is just going through the motions of an "education process" for three years or more picking up absolutely nothing and with their minds essentially undeveloped and unprepared for their working lives ahead.
They graduate illiterate and useless, unable to communicate, fend and think for themselves. But they feel and think the world owes them a living.
You will then appreciate why our "graduates" are unemployable. Only the civil service and Pak Lah want them.
Even the education minister is sending his children overseas. It has always been the case. Local education is for the ordinary people but not for the ministers and royalties.
Bolehland has been screwed up by a bunch of "half-past-six" for many decades, in particular our education policy, which has been permanently damaged.
When UM was the only one university for the whole country, it was producing graduates recognized overseas. Medical degrees were recognized along with engineering, science, etc. Not so today.
It will take several generations to undo what politicians have done to the standards and the systems for the last thirty years. That is how bad it is.
The only thing that can reverse the sorry state of affairs in UM, and indeed in all the other universities, is the establishment of a level playing field. Have one entrance exam for all, and award places based on meritocracy. The level playing field must also extend to the teaching staff.
Where meritocracy prevails, the cream will rise to the top. It may take years to right the wrongs of the past, but we must start implementing the process of meritocracy now if there is to be any hope at all.
The history books are full of lies. Not only on the contributions of other races but their content on other religions also has to be thoroughly examined.
Many a time my relatives have to de-learn their kids on the rubbish they are taught in schools. This same rubbish is then used at government seminars to belittle other religions. That is a fact. Under Pak Lah (who supports death for apostasy) - it has increased.
Anyway, Malaysia history books have always been like that - a damn joke. Academicians are too comfy in their ivory towers to butt with the racist politicians who lobbied for such appalling history re-writing.
Then again, how many academicians in Malaysia actually have that much integrity?
Like this is new! The malays are so eager to achieve their 'ketuanan' status they can do anything! Lying and falsehood is no problem as they have developed such a thick face over the years. Just living on lies and falsehood is a way of life now!
The sad part of it all is that this latest development is part of the many developments currently being practised to deny the important roles of the Chinese and Indians in the development of this country to what it is today.
It is not a coincidence that the state of development of countries around in this region is directly proportional to the percentage of Chinese populations - Thailand, Philippine, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Indonesia.
Fortunately, the non-malays here are essentially non confrontational and let it be. Only grumble here and there so long as everybody can still earn a decent living.
The bad thing is, Malaysia is not using its full potential especially in this global environment and will lose out in the future. The meritocracy is a real joke. Already as far as I know, the local Malaysian Chinese are far behind Chinese from Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong and now China. Very soon the malays won't have someone to rely on……….when the oil runs out.
I know because I was there when Chinese in these countries were equal in capabilities in the 70s and 80s in ICT etc. Continue neglecting the non-malays in areas of trade, education etc, will have profound implications in the years to come.
As far as I am concerned, I am already looking for overseas opportunities not local. If my money grows overseas - it is in line with the NEP. My money won't be counted so NEP can be achieved. Good for all. NEP is about percentage, not the quantum.
When globalisation comes about, I do predict that many local businesses will go global and not be limited by stupid local politics. That is when the effects of NEP will be telling on those who depended on it. Only the fittest survives.

We, Chinaman come to Malaysia to make living. We work hard, work in the construction, toil in the sunlight, growing vegetables and fruits, to supply to all of Malaysians regardless of race.

Where is malays came from originally, could anyone remember? Correct me if I am wrong. Old malays are originally came from south China, the province now called Yunnan in China. Also merge from Sumatra, Jawa, Aceh, etc.

I have no quarrel with one in this round. I agree with wholeheartedly that the history on Chin Peng is not only scanty but biased and one-sided.
For all his faults, Chin Peng was a true nationalist. He thought Malayan rather than Malay, Indian or Chinese, or in my case, Eurasian.
However he used the wrong approach, i.e. communism in his attempt to unite the country. The British were able to foil his fight for independence for the country by playing the divide and rule card, showing his move as a Chinese one and against the malays.
Umno copied the British tactic of divide and rule which has continued to this day and is the basis of the BN power structure.
But as I explained in the posting, what the retarded fellows are doing is futile, as no one can really distort history and remain credible for long.

Patriotism comes form a sense of identity and belonging to the country. Their fundamental role in achieving the independence, the development of Malaysia today, are often overlooked. Furthermore, they are disadvantaged in everything which requires government intervention. Ethno schools, education grants, buying of houses, businesses, etc.
We have more Indonesians receiving PR status as oppose to other races. The world golf champion Vijay Singh ironically was denied PR status.
Malaysia has only a population of above 23 million people. Shanghai in itself is almost equivalent to the whole of Malaysia inhabitants. Are we to focus on which race is the "Jaguh Kampung" to the detriment of the whole of Malaysia while other nations are competing against nations?
Rules, policies, laws etc - to hamper the progress of other races for the benefit of one cannot be applied internationally.

The BN-led government has been providing crutches to so many crippling GLCs for the past 20 odd years: Renong, Proton, PLUS, Perwaja (which is total failure), MAS……….and perhaps many more (I do not have so many inside scoops), what next?
So do we need these GLCs for Malaysia economy? Yes and no.
-Yes, because if we want to stay afloat and let everyone has access to quality of life, then get those GLCs running, get the projects going, so employment can be managed and probably social problems such as poverties, drugs, crimes, can be contained. BN will wins election in election out, as long the people are happy.

Proton, MAS and most of our GLCs are all the same: totally no accountability, seriously lacking focus, plenty of abuses of power, most of its executives and bosess absolutely have no competence in running a company, greedy, doing things beyond their means, badly corrupted, etc.
I am extremely sad the tax money I paid to government every month is being spent in such manners. Why should we pay the taxes at all if our money is not put into good use? Where is the justice?

Interestingly although while we say bumis have achieved 19% of the country share of economic wealth, we are talking only about malay bumis. The other bumis in particularly the Dayak, Dusun and Kedazan from Sabah and Sarawak in comparison have achieved 0%.

Whether this situation is by accidence or by design, the failure of the NEP to uplift their livelihood or the false belief that they enjoy being classified as bumis have become a point of contention to these communities (who are the majority population in east Malaysia).

The brain drain that Singapore is experiencing, Malaysia is also experiencing. Singaporeans or Malaysians, all those who can fulfill the criteria for emigration (not "migration" - that term is used for birds, not people) to the US, UK or EU will go there if they so desire.
Except Malaysia also faces a brain drain in the direction of Singapore, whereas Singapore faces no such drainage in the direction of Malaysia!
All the non-malay Malaysians who can afford it send their children here to study to avoid the corrupt and racist education system in their own country. Malaysia is so much bigger than Singapore, so many different regions - so how come Malaysians need to come here at all?
Why are you here, instead of somewhere in your lush and plentiful land?
Two of my best friends are Malaysians Singapore PR working in Singapore. They looked at me in horror when I asked them if they'd ever thought of going back to live and work in Malaysia!
Even a weekend spent visiting their folks back home leaves them rushing back across the causeway in relief.
Malaysia has so many natural resources and a larger workforce. Singapore is just a miserable dot on a map and has so few assets. Yet Singapore is wealthier and has progressed faster than Malaysia (e.g. the standard of living is leaps and bounds better here, the currency stronger, etc).
It may happen, but it is going to take absolutely ages for Malaysia to catch up, let alone do so much better (would be like Africa catching up with Europe) that it is worth the while for Malaysians Singapore PR to go back kampung!
If Singapore dies, it will be most likely due to China snatching all our Singapore business. In which case, China will also snatch all of Malaysia's business.
What is your problem? Pak Lah said that now he is walking the talk with the 9MP, but those are not what we want from his talk talk days. We want him to fulfill his pledges in having an accountable, transparent government. Stop giving us lies!

Singapore (transparency, efficient and clean government) had proven to the world that they have struggled and gone far better than Malaysia (racist and corrupted government) in terms of economy and others even though they have been separated from our Bolehland since 1963.

Sadly, the government is not setting and leading a good example for the private sector and people to follow, e.g. transparency, social responsibility, non discrimination, equal employment opportunity, competency and accountability, and etc.
It is the private sector, in particular the multinationals with huge resources, that are setting and leading a good example for the local businesses to follow.
Always country's culture. We might not know whom pocket is filled with money but we sure know about this kind of process. Worse still a lot being supportive of certain parties just to get projects as that. They are selling their soul for money. This is just of the thousand cases repeat happened.
They give the contract to one company to earn all the money - what some more is crony way of awarding the contract. Hope BN government will feel the pinch later.
Pak Lah is Mr clean? Oh my God, biggest lie of all!
Biggest sin of Pak Lah is inaction and ignorant! With all the power he is holding now coupled with the biggest margin ever in election victory, Pak Lah can do many things. But he chose not to. He just let all his cronies and airheads ministers grabs whatever things they want, do whatever they want!
I think Pak Lah is the laziest prime minister we ever produced! He could be totally incompetent too. Probably that is the reason why Mahathir wants to remove him at all costs.
Is the language diversity in our educational system a stumbling block to so-called 'national unity'?
Despite the insistence of this idea by the self-interested ruling elite, it is simply wrong.
And the common use of English did not stop Americans from fighting Britons in the War of Independence. And let us not forget the American Civil War - both sides spoke English.
And to the contrary, we see Europeans of different mother tongues coming together in a democratic manner to forge a united continent in the form of the multilingual European Union with common standards of democracy, governance and human rights.
English-speaking people with different mother tongues are also now living peacefully in five different independent and sovereign countries namely the United States, New Zealand, Canada, Britain and Australia.
It is time for the Malaysian ruling elite and their ideologues to stop spreading the voodoo of that language diversity hampers national unity.
The root cause of national disunity is none other than the existence of race-based political parties like Umno, MIC and MCA, which perpetuate race-based affirmative action policies and which only benefit the upper class BNs and their sons, daughters and cronies.
First we change our mentality, then we go for the university rankings. What we are lagging is in the mentality. There is absolutely no point in talking about our lack of quality universities continuously over a period of time. What we Malaysians need is equality and freedom.
The kind of freedom championed for by William Wallace - for the freedom to think from those who seek to control us and hamper our growth for their own short term benefit.
Whether it is Jiso Tung or Newsweek or Times ranking of universities, it is a foregone conclusion that we will never be able to recapture the glory days of the 1970s.
This administration is bankrupt of ideas, and all they can do is to find fault with everybody else except themselves. Don't waste your breath, just beg, borrow or steal to put your children in a foreign university.
That is the reason all ministers children study overseas! "We mess up the system, but not on our children." How sick is this!
Don't you know our very own education minister sends his children overseas for education, as our quality is like rotten egg!
I think there is almost no minister in Sarawak who has their kids studying in the local universities. Most of them studied overseas.
The root of the problem is very well known by everybody except that the people at the top do not want to do anything about it.
They know that if they were to solve the root problem they will hang themselves in limbo, lost of extra side income, lost of power and more……….do you think they would want to resolve the root problem!
The Badawi fellow had already instructed all BN ministers to toe the line, they cannot agree with the oppositions on any matters even it is good for the country.
Did you see my bottom tagline, we have to keep on fighting and rambling until they wake up to their sense or the best "change of government".
Our universities poor ranking is a foregone conclusion. Unhappily, this situation will go on for as long as race-based discriminatory policy continues to be practiced. Private universities in the country would have a better chance of getting into the list than the public ones.
The government knows exactly what is wrong and the solutions to arrest the situation. It is just that they don't have the courage and the political will to do the necessary.
It is an insult for Zimbabwe to have its universities made comparable with those in Malaysia. Some of their graduates are my colleagues in Australia and they are really good.
May be it was correct some 10 years ago - now Malaysia universities can only compete with Afghanistan, Chad, Ethiopia, Somalia and Sudan or where there are no functional universities during the Taliban days. But soon the Afghanistan graduates would overtake us too.
